October 10, 1958: The Isley Brothers, The Chantels, The Upsetters, Dee Clark, Little Willie John and Little Anthony and the Imperials begin a week at The Apollo Theater, Harlem, New York City, USA…

It would be several months until
The Isley Brothers would score with their smash hit...

“SHOUT”

But surely they KILLED with their 1958 Ballads;

 “MY LOVE”…

And, “DON’T BE JEALOUS”

The Upsetters, now mainly an instrumental group with Dee Clark sitting in on some vocals but WITHOUT THEIR FOUNDER AND ORIGINAL LEAD SINGER, “LITTLE RICHARD”  Had plenty of “Good Stuff” to rock the Apollo crowd...

(Little Richard had performed his “farewell” show at this same venue 51 weeks earlier before heading off on his “spiritual journey”)

 “UPSETTER ROCK”

“JAY WALKING”

“THE UPSETTER”

THE CHANTELS, one of the hottest acts in the nation had plenty of Ballad Action to offer:

“MAYBE”

“WHOEVER YOU ARE”

“THE PLEA”

DEE CLARK, as well as sitting in with The Upsetters,  had a minor hit at the time with the Otis Blackwell penned “JUST KEEP IT UP
as well as his own composition

“NOBODY BUT YOU”

NOTE: “RAINDROPS--His BIG Hit—was a few years away…

The Motor City’s
 LITTLE WILLIE JOHN
had a couple of smash hits for this
Apollo Show…

“FEVER”

“TALK TO ME”

LITTLE ANTHONY AND THE IMPERIALS
HAD THEIR TWO SIDED HIT FOR THE CROWD…

“TEARS ON MY PILLOW”

“TWO PEOPLE IN THE WORLD”

JUST ANOTHER ROCKIN’, GRINDIN’ NIGHT AT THE  APOLLO THEATER...

HARLEM, NEW YORK CITY, USA…
