New Orleans
born and educated at The Julliard Conservatory of Music, Joe started his music
career as a valet, then pianist and arranger for B.B. King …
His debut solo
single was"Will Call" (1954) on Capitol Records…
"Will Call" didn't cause much
of a stir on the charts, but his 1960 “You Talk Too Much” was a smash hit
nationally...
" He also
originally recorded the much covered (by
The Crickets, The Dictators, The Ramones, Bobby Fuller and even The Byrds, to
name just a few!) "California Sun", which was made a hit by The Rivieras ...
Joe Jones
claimed ownership of many of the classic Mardi Gras songs, but those claims
were found to be erroneous by the courts…
