September 19, 1960:

Chubby Checker's version of "The Twist" reached the top of the Billboard Pop chart for a one week stay. The same record would make a return to number one in January, 1962, becoming the first single in history to accomplish that feat—AND IT WASN’T EVEN CLOSE TO BEING HIS TUNE!!!

"Bird" Parker in the EVOLUTION OF ROCK 'N ROLL

On November 26, 1945, Charlie "Bird" Parker led a record date for the Savoy label, marketed as the "greatest Jazz session ever." The tracks recorded during this session include Now's the Time" (a twelve bar blues incorporating a riff later used in the late 1949 R&B dance hit "The Hucklebuck")
