May 8, 1965: The Miracles hit #16 with
"Ooh Baby Baby"…

And it became The Miracles’ first “signature song”

The tune was written by Smokey and fellow Miracle Pete Moore:

Claudette Rogers Robinson – background vocals

Ronnie White – background vocals

Bobby Rogers – background vocals

Recorded in Studio A at Hitsville (Motown) with the Funk Brothers (featuring Jack Ashford on vibraphone) and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra providing the strings…The tune was destined to be the classic which it did become…As well as one of the most covered Miracles tunes ever!

The Five Stairsteps version of the tune was produced by Curtis Mayfield and released on Windy City Records in 1967…

Linda Ronstadt did a very credible cover of Ooh Baby Baby, enlisting the sax of David Sanborn for the recording…

Most likely the very best cover of this tune ever never achieved the fame it deserved,  possibly since the group, THE ESCORTS were doing time in the New Jersey State joint at Rahway when they produced this incredible version…

OOH BABY BABY!
