Singer Ivory Joe Hunter (his real name) was born in in Kirbyville, Texas on October 10, 1914 and died of lung cancer on November 8, 1974…

 (October 10, 1914 – November 8, 1974)

In the early 1940s he had his own show on Beaumont,Texas radio KDFM where he eventually became the program manager…

 In 1942 he moved to L.A. where he wrote and recorded his first tune, “Blues at Sunrise” (a/k/a “Sunrise Blues”)


The recording became a 
 nationwide R ‘n B Hit in 1945…

Ivory Joe Hunter transgressed from Blues to Boogie Woogie and Country—He made a name for himself in all those genre; being honored at not only The Monterrey Jazz Festival but also at the Grand Old Opry!!!

Hunter was best known for his R'nB Hits: 

"Since I Met You Baby"

"I Almost Lost My Mind" 

"I Need You So”

Ivory Joe was billed as

 “The Baron of the Boogie” and known as 

“The Happiest Man Alive”
