April 1,1966: The Troggs use 45 minutes of spare studio time to record a COVER version of "Wild Thing" -- Check out the ORIGINAL by The Wild Ones and Jimi's Monterrey performance, and another "surprise"--"WILD THING" In The Evolution of Rock 'n Roll...

April 1,1966:

The Troggs use 45 minutes of spare studio time to record "Wild Thing" at Regent Sound Studio in London. The raw, simple little tune would climb to #2 in the UK and #1 in the US, selling over a million copies by the following June.

As performed by The Troggs, "Wild Thing" is ranked #257 on the Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time

"Wild Thing" is a song written by New York City-born songwriter Chip Taylor.

Originally recorded by The Wild Ones in 1965

Of course Jimi
turned it into a classic when he set his guitar on fire in his performance of Wild Thing at Monterrey…

And then there was the incredibly lame French singer Amanda Lear’s

equally lame recording of "Wild Thing"

for her comeback album Secret Passion adding a synthpop feel to it. The single was produced by Christian De Walden and released in 1987…

(“WTF!?!” you ask… Sorry, I just couldn’t help myself…)

"WILD THING, YOU MAKE MY HEART SING/
YA MAKE EVERYTHING GROOVY..."
